We specialize in pelvic physical therapy, which is a type of PT geared toward all functions of the pelvis: urinary, bowel, sexual, reproductive. Just like any muscles in the body, the pelvic floor muscles help you be more efficient during the activities you enjoy. If your body isn't moving or responding the way it should be, things become less efficient...and sometimes even problematic. Pelvic PT is similar to regular physical therapy in that we are searching for why you are having dysfunction, so assessments and treatments involve hands-on techniques specific to the area you are having problems. It differs from regular PT because the region of the body requires specialized training to assess and treat with the appropriate privacy, safety, and compassion.
Ready to book? Call 386.227.6077 or book online. Before the appointment, you'll fill out online paperwork in the comfort of your home so we can start to get to know you before you step into the clinic. The first visit is 90 minutes and then you and your PT will develop a treatment plan that works for you. Between visits, you can call or text 24/7 with questions or concerns about your care.
We understand you may have questions
before you commit to booking your initial evaluation,
so we offer a 15 minute discovery call absolutely free.
It will help you determine if pelvic PT is right for you.
(Live outside the Daytona area? No problem! Schedule a consultation to discuss virtual options for treatment)
We accept payment in the form of your HSA or FSA card. Don't let your benefits go to waste.
In Florida we can treat you without a referral for up to 30 days. If your treatment goes beyond that, we will help you request a referral from your primary care team. We love working as a team with your current providers to make sure your treatment is comprehensive. *Check with your insurance plan to see if they need a referral for out-of-network reimbursement before your first visit
You are welcome to use your benefits, but we do not contract with or process payments with any insurance companies. All payments are made at the beginning of each appointment, then we can provide our patients with an itemized bill to submit for reimbursement.
*We cannot guarantee reimbursement, please check with your insurance.
*We are unable to treat medicare patients due to medicare's rules (we know, we think it's ridiculous also).
Please reach us at schedule@porterpelvic.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Porter Pelvic PT specializes in pelvic health (pelvic or abdominal pain, incontinence, constipation, gender affirming, prolapse, pregnancy/postpartum, sexual dysfunction, etc) and we can also treat orthopedic conditions such as low back pain, hip pain, or any musculoskeletal problems. Click here for a detailed list of what we treat.
Everyone's plan of care will be different. Typically we will know if treatment is working within 3-6 visits. Usually we see patients 1-2 times a week and then 1-2 times per month once you're feeling more independent. Between visits, you can call or text us 24/7 with questions or concerns.
Because we are not limited by insurance contracts, we do not follow the model of "2x/week for 8 weeks and then you're discharged." We know that everyone's recovery journey is individual and we tailor all treatments to your goals and what you are looking to get out of physical therapy.
Absolutely! We treat everyone with a pelvis. Some symptoms we treat men for include urine dribbling, erectile dysfunction, constipation, prostate removal, prostatitis, pain shooting into penis or testicles (severe pain in testicles can be a serious condition, if the pain is severe and came out of nowhere--seek medical attention at an ER or urgent care center immediately)
100%. Tearing during delivery (perineal tear), episiotomies, and cesarean scars (c-section) can heal naturally, but they can all cause pain and dysfunction of the pelvic floor, especially if you're not sure how to work back up to all the things you used to do. We can help you work through it and get you feeling like yourself again. Even with normal healing, you may want some help developing a routine to ensure the your body is as strong as it can be.
No! Leakage is never normal. It can be common, but there are definitely things that can help. Wearing pads daily can be irritating to the skin and increase UTIs, let us help you ditch the pads and get back to doing the things you love.
Possibly. But in our experience working for insurance-based clinics, sometimes the "co-pay" for pelvic PT is the same amount as (or more than) our rates with long wait lists to get in. So make sure you call to find out what your costs and benefits are. Other questions to ask: when is the first available appointment? How long are appointments? Will I see the same therapist each time? Is the paperwork online or do I need to arrive early? PP PT can usually get people in for their first appointment within a week, and we spend up to 90 minutes on the first appointment.
No one is exactly the same, but you should be having bowel movements 3x/day to 3x/week without bloating, pain, straining, or leakage. If you're feeling stopped up or your frequency has changed, come see us and we can help you figure out why and what steps to take next. Don't suffer through it or start straining to try to get things moving: we can help!
